MARK FAST S/S 2013

WOW. Officially a favourite of London Fashion Week I think. Mark Fasts Spring/Summer 2013 collection catapulted with Crayola's, lilacs and glamour with a Gatsby hint of 40's margaritas meets the Bronx. The tasselled silks and chains work so well together, all with elegant cuts of shape across the garments. The thin shimmer reflects too well on the catwalk, and the earrings give a heavy contrast to the 80's suburban mom Afro.

My only objection are a lot of the models didn't gel well with the clothing. I think Fast should have scouted real girls to showcase the collection. His past with curvaceous models caused a controversial storm but I think for this he should have looked for city kids, genuine girls who would catwalk this shit to buy their cutters choice. The clothing holds a strong element of street wear with a soulful, roller disco kinda vibe and some of the models just look really out of place.

While I'm on this subject, endorsing celebrities into shows is the sort of shit I'm sick of seeing at FW. Why was Harry Styles on the front row for Burberry? Was he lost on his way to the common room? Sometimes watching the streams from FW is like watching T4 on the beach, I wouldn't be surprised if Joey Essex rocked up at Westwood next season just to gain a bit more exposure in Heat Magazine.
Getting famous faces into your shows is just a dishonest way of juicing something you've created and worked hard for.
