Backstage Heroes Vice has created ' The Backstage Heroes ' project in which they feature collaborating groups and individuals who work within the music industry enhancing varieties of areas from promoting to directing. Shot in Levi's 519's, these music lovers talk influence, creativity & origin of their happenings.
Sam Kilcoyne, eighteen, London Town: Creator & Promoter of Underage, 3 year annual music festival and one of the first minor official club promoters.
This boy's done good.
Kilcoyne states that "Club promoting is just a nice thing to share with people"
and that,
" The underage audience are constantly searching for a new thing to adore and study. Except for the guys that have been out every night since they were 10 and done more pills than Shaun Ryder. They're always there talking shit, but that's OK. "
The UK needs more youths actually contributing to society. Underage festival is an event that focuses and engages 14-18 year olds in a musical atmosphere of the latest chart topping bands to perform in a strictly limited Victoria Park festival. The first time I was allowed at Reading, I was thirteen and had to follow my older brother round all day, dragging him to Inme & The Distillers as potentially corporate festivals such as Reading are extremely safe and catered to younger societies, however being a thirteen year old girl in amongst a mist of front-stage riots on her own isn't ideal. Underage specializes completely in the younger generation. This is something that needed to be done ages ago and this kid has done it.
